Help us re-connect with the grassroots members and organisers who helped DiEM25 enter the Greek Parliament!

In 2018-19, thanks to the generous donations of DiEMers, Greek Volunteers Coordinator Jochen Schult and Coordinating Collective member Erik Edman were able to spend 6 months in Greece, travelling 10,000km, visiting 50 cities and forming 40 new local teams for MeRA25: our movement’s Greek political party.

Now, one year since those national elections, MeRA25 is the first and only DiEM25 party to have entered parliament anywhere in Europe – a success the party owes to the tireless work of grassroots members and organisers who rallied to MeRA25’s message of not abandoning Greece to permanent austerity, poverty and misery.

That is why Jochen and Erik, this time joined by our movement’s Social Media Coordinator, Davide Castro, are embarking on yet another journey across the Greek mainland. The plan is to reconnect with many of the volunteers and organisers who they first met in the heat of the electoral campaign last year. They say:

“It’s essential that we meet face to face for a discussion with our grassroots activists about MeRA25’s first year in parliament as well as the future – what has worked, what has not, and how they see the connection between their struggle in Greece and DiEM25’s transnational bid to transform Europe.

“We aim to record a DiEM25 documentary about our Electoral Wing’s first success story that looks closely into our “wins”, as well as into areas where we fell short so we can make improvements. But we need your help.”

From securing the necessary COVID-19 tests, to covering basic travel needs, your contribution, no matter how small, will help us bring this to fruition.

So, will you help us make it happen? Can you give us the resources we need to connect with our people around Greece and bring their story to the rest of Europe, to inspire people in DiEM25 and beyond to rise up and organise for real change?
