Why this matters:
As Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock is the primary responsible executive for Germany’s foreign policy. In the past year, her actions have made Germany complicit in severe violations of international law, including genocide and apartheid.
Baerbock has continuously lent material and political support for Israel’s crimes against humanity. She even claimed to have seen videos showing Hamas fighters rape an Israeli woman, even though an Independent UN Commission of Inquiry “has not been able to independently verify such allegations [of rape], [...]. Additionally, the Commission found some specific allegations to be false, [...]”. Most disturbingly, she now, one year into Israel’s systematic, targeted bombings of hospitals, ambulances, schools, and shelters, justifies its mass killing of civilians by declaring that “civilian sites could lose their protected status.” This is an outrageous endorsement of war crimes.
Despite the findings of International Courts, organisations such as the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention and high-ranking UN experts, which are sounding the alarm about an ongoing genocide, the German government has provided diplomatic cover, sent weapons and continues to send weapons that are fueling Israel's siege of Gaza, aiding the destruction of lives, homes, and infrastructure. Baerbock's support for this indiscriminate violence makes her complicit in mass murder and has gravely tarnished Germany's international reputation.
As evidenced by recent opinion polls, Germans overwhelmingly reject her foreign policy and Israel’s brutal siege on Gaza. Her so-called “feminist foreign policy” is a mockery, dehumanising Palestinians while selectively sympathising with Israeli victims. This betrayal of humanitarian values cannot stand.
Annalena Baerbock has failed her duty by ignoring:
International law
The German public’s interest
Basic diplomatic principles
Her failures demand accountability.
What we demand:
We, the undersigned, call for Annalena Baerbock to immediately resign from her post for her blatant disregard of basic principles of international law and diplomatic conduct. If she refuses, we demand the government remove her from office.
Germans and global citizens alike must stand up for the principles of justice, humanity, and international law. Let’s restore Germany’s political and moral integrity and end our complicity in war crimes.
Sign now if you agree that Annalena Baerbock must go!
