The A12 blockade is back! On 9 and 10 September at noon, the A12 highway in the Hague will be occupied again by Extinction Rebellion to demand an end to €30 billion in fossil subsidies [1]. But this time it's a little different: we will keep coming back every day until the fossil subsidies are abolished. It's time to put the pressure on because there is simply no time to lose!
Together with thousands of people and hundreds of civil society organisations, DiEM25 will be supporting Extinction Rebellion from the Laan van Reagan en Gorbatsjov [2]. We will be there with our own DiEM25 stand talking about climate solutions [3]. We can expect to hear from artists and speakers such as Merol, Hang Youth, Sophie Straat, Clarice Gargard and Tim Hofman.
Last time we were 7.500 people but this time we are campaigning to get 20.000 people on the street and we need you to make this a reality. So come join us on Saturday and Sunday 9 and 10 September and let's show the Dutch government that the people demand an end to fossil subsidies!
[1] You can read more about the calculation of the yearly amount of fossil subsidies in this article.
[2] Due to the restrictions imposed by the mayor the location of the support demo was changed from next to the A12 to the Laan van Reagan en Gorbatsjov.
