The Event

EconoMix, a local group of the Netzwerk für Plurale Ökonomik in Germany, would like to invite all of you to our first event this semester.

Professor Yanis Varoufakis will hold a 30 minute Keynote to start off the evening. Following that, participants can pose their questions and discuss with Prof. Varoufakis. He will talk about his thoughts on plurality in economics and the persistence of neoclassical models in economics classrooms all around the world.

The event is based on the paper with the same name by Varoufakis (2006): "What Is Neoclassical Economics? The three axioms responsible for its theoretical oeuvre, practical irrelevance and, thus, discursive power" (available for free online). In case one wants to delve into professor Varoufakis' thoughts on the subject beforehand, we can strongly recommend that paper.
