Many members have urged a reprise of our pre-Covid gatherings in London and across the country. Working toward that end, with the welcome support of The Bread & Roses pub in Clapham, we will be very pleased to see all-comers joining us on the 7th June for a few hours of socialising and discussion of recent developments here in the UK, across the continent and internationally.
Where we have come together over the past year, discussion invariably zeroes in on the abject state of party politics in the UK exacerbated by the drift in constitutional conditions and public sphere arrangements that we see intensifying the class struggle.
Consider this a call to join us for a general social gathering with an important component… to deliberate a set of policy proposals outlined in the ‘crowd-texting’ document “UK – For a Better Democracy”.
This set of propositions has had some advance discussion by members active on the DiEM25 Forum who encourage engagement with some of the emergent categories:
Electoral Systems
National Aspirations and Co-operation
2nd Chamber (House of Lords) Reform and Transformation
Regional and Devolution of Power
Party Funding and Standards in Politics
Media
Participation and Political Education
Please browse the ‘crowd-texting’ document “UK – For a Better Democracy” so we can start our exchanges on an even footing for next Wednesday’s exchanges. Active contributors have generously sketched out some approaches for us to review on the following forum threads:
Please note: This is a physical meeting with a hybrid component welcoming all-comers to observe and interact during the Zoom discussion segment of the meeting from 7.30 which can be linked into here:
